Tanzania Horticultural Association (TAHA) is an apex private sector member based organization mandated to develop and promote horticultural crops (flowers, fruits" vegetables, spices, herbs and horticultural seeds) in Tanzania. TAHA's goal is to improve the growth and competitiveness of horticultural industry in the country for social and economic gains. TAHA is a strong voicing platform, representing farmers at all levels, processors, exporters and service providers in the horticultural industry in Tanzania.
TAHA is looking for motivated and highly experienced individual to fill the following position:
POSITION: SENIOR TECHNICAL OFFICER DUTY STATION: ARUSHA
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Identify challenges facing value chain actors particularly farmers and engage proactively with TAHA Field Officers (FOs) and other partners to ensure that technical challenges are well addressed;Provide leadership supervision to Field Officers in respective regions;Lead the ground team in farmers' mobilization, clusters formation and management, while ensuring that farmers are well empowered to act as professional business entities by complying to production and marketing standards;Participate in the production and distribution of technical training materials such as GAPs manuals;Identify training needs across the value chains, participate in the designing and coordination of capacity building programs for the value chain actors;Engage proactively with partners and ensure proper coordination and alignment for bigger and sustainable impact.Promote TAHA standards and guidelines to partners and field officers.Participate and provide the focal position in the development and implementation of technical projects in the industry focusing on standards development and compliance.Fully responsible in coordinating standards compliance by farmers and other value chain actors. Any other duty as may be assigned by the Management.
Position Requirements
A degree in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agronomy, Crop Science or related field. Advanced degree in a similar field or related fields will be an added advantage.Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience at leadership level in agricultural value chains transformation.Strong written and communication skills.Coordination, judgment and decision making skills.
