JOB TITLE: Ophthalmic Nurse (1)

An enterprising Eye Specialist Clinic in Msasani Dar es salaam is searching for suitable and ambitious candidates to fill in the vacant post of Ophthalmic Nurse. This post is a full time job with a permanent contract which will be reporting to the Clinic In Charge. An attractive compensation package will be offered to the successful candidate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide testing services and other general nursing services to all eye patients as per nursing code of conduct
- Proper measure and recording of visual acute test
- Proper measure and recording of intraocular pressure (IOP)
- Perform correctly biometry for all preoperative cataract surgical patients
- Measure Blood Pressure, height, weight and Blood Sugar (BS) tests and record them properly
- Assisting the Doctor during consultations
- Assisting he Doctor during surgery
- Prepare medical equipment for surgery
- Prepare surgery room and maintain its sterility
- Communicate to the patient on how to use the prescribed medicines properly
- Communicate to the patient on what’s need to be done before and after surgical procedure
- Provide health education about eye health
- Compile daily data for MTUHA
- Attend internal and external meetings as needed
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
- Diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
- Registered by the Tanzania Nursing Council
- Advanced Diploma in Ophthalmic nursing/Certificate in Ophthalmic assistant and experience to work in a busy eye
department will be added advantages
Competencies / Skills:
- Fluent in English and Swahili both verbal and written
- Computer skills; competent in MS Office suite
- Proactive and Flexible
- Teamwork
- Able to handle customers politely and professionally
- Honesty and Integrity
