Sokoine University Graduate Entrepreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO) is a cooperative established in July 2011 registered under Tanzania Cooperative Act No 20 of (2003). SUGECO in partnership with Farm Africa Tanzania have a two years project on Nutrition awareness and cash crops value chain (NACC) which will be implemented in Kilosa and Gairo Districts, southern Morogoro. The project targets to Improve the livelihood of rural communities by supporting smaliholder farmers (SHF) in the region, to grow and sell high quality cash crops specifically Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) and Quality Protein Maize. Alongside improving agricultural knowledge and inputs, the project Will also address barriers which contribute to household malnutrition by promoting consumption of nutritious crops. SUGECO will implement this project with support of Farm Atrica and funding from BIG LOTTERY FUND. We are seeking for two Project Officers and one Driver to support implementation of this project.

1. Position:  Project Field Officer (1 Post)
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Location: Kilosa and Gairo Districts
Duration; 2 years Fixed Term
Duties and Responsibilities •
He/she will be responsible with the oversight of project field activities, manage the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of all aspects of the project with other project staff,
• The officers Will lead the formation and capacity building of the farmer producer groups to develop profitable and sustainable markets for Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato (OFSP) and Quality Protein Maize (QPM) and to manage their crop husbandry and production sustainably.
• Reporting to the Program coordinator, the Project Field Officer manages agricultural field activities and supports the Program Coordinator in providing leadership and management of this project.
Qualifications and Experience
• Minimum Bachelor degree in agriculture general, agronomy, crop science or closely related subject with a sound knowledge of the agricultural production systems, agricultural value chains and policy environment in Tanzania.
– Masters in crop science, value chain development or other related field at an accredited university will be highly valued A proven track record in the implementation of agricultural value chain projects particularly within NGOs in Tanzania and a minimum of three (3) years working experience specializing in crop management, and or a closely related sector is preferred
• The post holder should have excellent project planning and execution skills, and strong comrnunicatioris and facilitation skills.
