Job Opportunity at Water Aid, Regional Director, East Africa

Regional Director, East Africa

Description
WaterAid is seeking two exceptional individuals to lead our work in the African Continent.

Extreme poverty cannot be eradicated without universal access to water, sanitation and hygiene: everyone on our planet needs these basics to be able to live healthy, productive lives. We are an independent, global organisation with a single focus on water, sanitation and hygiene for the poorest and most marginalised people. We work with partners and influence decision-makers to maximise our impact.

We are currently seeking two exceptional individuals to lead our work in the African Continent. Both will report to the Director of International Programmes and these roles are undertaken in line with WaterAid’s values, guiding principles and global strategy.

Our work at the country level is critical to achieving our ambitious Global Strategy, with a vision of everyone everywhere having access to safe water and sanitation by 2030. As such, the Regional Director, East Africa provides leadership to the region and also contributes to the global leadership of WaterAid as a whole, ensuring our goals are achieved by developing and implementing the regional strategy, empowering and developing our 100 staff across Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda, and influencing key stakeholders on the impact that improvements to safe water and improved sanitation and hygiene can make to the poorest and most excluded. Building on our success in the region to date, the Regional Director, East Africa will work alongside communities and partner organisations from government, civil society, the UN, academia and the private sector in order to strengthen our work on the ground both in terms of delivery and ensuring communities are fully engaged in championing their rights.
