PEACE BUILDING &
MAINSTREAMING SPECIALIST
World Vision International
(Rwanda) is a child focused Christian humanitarian organization implementing
development programs in 15 Districts of Rwanda.
World Vision Rwanda seeks to
hire a highly qualified, dedicated and experienced national for the position of
Peace Building & Mainstreaming Specialist. The position will be
based in Kigali and reporting to the Strategy & DM&E Manager.
Purpose of the position:
To ensure mainstreaming of
peace building activities within programs and projects for a successful
achievement of Child Wellbeing in alignment with the NO Strategy.
Communicate World Vision's
Christian ethos and demonstrate a quality of spiritual life that is an example
to others.
The major responsibilities
include:
Mainstreaming:
·
Facilitate
the mainstreaming of peace building initiatives/activities into all programs
and projects and ensure that these initiatives are community driven for
increased ownership and sustainability.
Building Capacity:
·
Build
WVR staff especially the frontline line staff to apply DO NO HARM principles
while implementing Technical Programs at Area Development level.
·
Capacity
building for Integration of Peace and Conflict Sensitivity in Programming and
Empowering Children as Peace builders.
·
Build
community capacity on healing, Peace Building and Reconciliation in relation to
the running of Healing workshops for sustainable peace.
Resource Acquisition:
·
Work
with Grants Acquisition Management team in developing healing, peace building
and reconciliation related concept papers/proposals writing.
Building Partnerships:
·
Pursue
and develop meaningful and formal partnerships with Government, UN agencies,
NGO’s, research institutes and other community stakeholders that will
compliment WVR peace building activities.
·
Engage
and liaise with National Level Actors and Institutions on Peace and
Reconciliation.
Monitoring and Reporting:
·
Ensure
monitoring tools are in place to track the implementation progress of the peace
building activities/initiatives.
·
Regular
documentation of peace building promising practices and ensure their
duplication in other Area Programs.
·
Prepare
and submit monthly, quarterly and annual reports on HPR initiatives in line
with World Vision and/or donor formats.
Information Management:
·
Support
keeping accurate and up-to-date records of peace building protocols, polices,
lessons and good practices, and facilitate their circulation and use within the
NO, across the partnership and with partners.
Qualifications: Education/Knowledge/Technical
Skills and Experience
The following may be
acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or
on-the-job training:

Minimum
Qualification required:
University degree in law, social sciences, international relations or relevant
field
·
Experience:
o Minimum of 3 years of
progressive work experience in socio-economic development, policy analysis,
research and international child or human rights related programming.
o Practical experience in child
protection work and legal support
·
Technical
Skills & Abilities:
o Specialized training or 3years
experience in human rights in general and in child rights in particular and
their application and implementation.
o Proven ability to
conceptualize, innovate and plan strategically.
o Good working knowledge of
English.
o Good computer and Internet
skill
